![]() For the most part, VGC is meant to be the sort of thing that anyone can just walk into, and since sleep clause is a rule that affects how you're allowed to play rather than what you're allowed to bring, it could cause a lot of confusion. ![]() It messes up quite a few team-building options due to having to specifically prepare for Dark Void - which is pretty difficult to do in some cases, such as on Trick Room teams.īesides, I can't see Sleep Clause working as a VGC rule because it would be difficult to enforce. Pokemon like Amoonguss are managable on their own, and the grass-type immunity to spore helps a lot, but instantly putting both opponents to sleep regardless of Grass-immunity is pretty cheap. Honestly though, I'd rather just see the Dark Void ban put back in place than an actual sleep clause. There's always something about it that has just felt really cheap to me. Personally, I've never been fond of sleep in battles. ![]() To join in on a discussion about "Item Clause" in Smogon : CLICK HERE I am sure there are discussions about it somewhere, but I didn't find one on this subreddit and I would like your opinion. What would you say about the inclusion of "Sleep Clause" to the VGC rule set ? How do you think it would affect the meta game? The "Sleep Clause" also excludes self-induced Sleep status like from Rest. You would be allowed to use it on your turn once, but as long as one Pokemon is still asleep you cannot use it again. To specify the use of Dark Void under "Sleep Clause" : It makes fighting Smeargle really boring and frustrating and takes a lot of fun away. You cannot use a Sleep inducing attack after you've already put one of your opponent's pokemon to sleep, so long as that pokemon remains sleeping.Ĭurrently, in the VGC rule set the "Sleep Clause" is not included which leads to Smeargle + Dark Void running rampant against unprepared teams. Personally I greatly enjoy the "Sleep Clause" that finds application in the Smogon rule set. Today I come to you with a question about the various clauses and rules in VGC and Smogon.
